Project Overview
Pudong International Airport is facing the sea to the east. In order to reduce the occupation of farmland, the second phase of the runway expansion by reclaiming land from the sea is all formed by the reclamation. The phase I of the project is divided into three sections, with a total length of 6 kilometers. The design standard for the levee is a 200 year return period plus a 12 level typhoon. The levee body is constructed using mud filled pipe bags, with a bottom width of 90 meters, a top width of 8 meters, and a height of 9 meters. The seaward side is equipped with grouted block stones and a wave barrier plate protective structure. The top of the levee is paved with asphalt, and the inner slope is covered with green grass.
